No, he’s not a DJ; that’s his name! The DJ Williams Projekt, hailing from Richmond, VA,  are probably one of the fastest rising bands on the scene right now. When you combine a tight groovin’ rhythm section, sweet horn lines, and an amazing guitar player who plays with honest to god soul, you’ve got yourself a solid winner when it comes to entertaining a crowd. Complex or Simple Williams’ lines become funk chops picking up speed one minute and slamming a 180 on a dime the next with the Projekt backing it up all along and enhancing the ride with their blend of jazz, funk, rock, and soul music.

The Projekt has toured relentlessly over the last 6 years and does not show any signs of slowing down. After signing a deal with Harmonized Records in 2003 for their sophomore album they quickly jumped on the grassroots promotion bandwagon. From filling up venues up and down the east coast to performing some very prestigious festivals such as Langerado, All Good, High Sierra, Smilefest, Haymaker, and Jamcruise to sharing the stage with John Legend, Dave Matthews Band, Citizen Cope, Robert Randolph, Soulive, Dickey Betts,  Karl Denson and many, many more.

With an emphasis on compelling melody, refined songwriting, and deep musical exploration, the DJ Williams Projekt IS one of the few bands that can take the title of having an original sound. Which is just what you will find on the bands newest release “ELEVEN”. Just don’t let the name confuse you because this young guitar player is laying out grooves that any “DJ” would love to sample.
