DJ Williams joins MONO CASE artist roster~

DJ Williams joins MONO CASE artist roster~

Posted by on Oct 9, 2012 in Speak | 0 comments

DJ Williams is proud to announce that he is currently joining the MONO case roster. MONO was founded by Daniel Kushner in the spring of 2006, on the ferry boat between Sausalito and San Francisco, to be exact. A self-taught drummer of over 15 years and a professional industrial designer, Daniel launched MONO to merge his love for music and design with a vision of creating innovative products for a new generation of modernist musicians. Having grown up in suburban Pennsylvania playing in several funk, hip hop and rock bands, Daniel went on to study design at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design. There he was awarded the Industrial Designer Society of America (IDSA) Student Merit award for his thesis project, Fibrid, creating recyclable furniture from waste paper. In 2002 Daniel relocated to San Francisco with his wife, Lauren, where he joined internationally acclaimed design firm IDEO. There he served as Lead Designer for clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies including Microsoft, Samsung, Hewlett Packard, Proctor & Gamble and Bank of America. During his 4 years with IDEO Daniel had the opportunity to create award-winning designs that are now experienced by millions of people every day. In 2006 Daniel put his vision for MONO into action, spending over a year designing, prototyping and refining the first line products that would launch the company. The M80 Series of hybrid cases for guitar and percussion instruments emerged, marking Daniel’s commitment to innovative design and setting the bar for the MONO brand. The company’s official launch at the 2007 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim California was met with overwhelming success in the form of international distribution, artist endorsements and grassroots support from the music community. Thanks to all the players who continue to provide feedback and support as we get the word out. If you’d like to help spread the word as well, link to us on your site, blog or myspace! Go...

I’ll tell ya! Proud to announce that DJ Williams Projekt is currently started recording our 4th studio record! Looking forward to really taking our time on this one and so far things are sounding really great. We are about ready to bring in some horns and vocals on the new tracks. A big thanks to Montrose Studio (Richmond, VA) for all their patience and hard work. It’s been a great experience thus far. I have also been writing new music with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe as we are tracked to put out 2 records within the year. A covers record and an originals record. Really pumped about the stuff we’ve been writing. We will also be joining our friends from Slightly Stoopid again to bring the Beastie Boys Tribute show to the east coast!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah… finally you say but it is a high energy show and worth the wait. Kyle, Dela, & OG absolutely slay this set of great, unforgettable music. Lastly, we’ll be joining Robert Randolph at the end of the year for a run of shows up through New Years Eve in Chicago. Recently saw his band play at a festival we both did in Dayton, OH and those boys are on fire! I’ll be posting a ton of new dates to the site this week so please be sure to check back often. Thanks again to all my family, friends, fans, DJWP, KDTU, ESP guitars, Pigtronix, and D’Addario. See all of you at the shows!!!  ...

Ummmm, I never thought that I would ever have a guitar endorsement deal my whole life. Seriously though…. not once, not never. I know a few people who have, but I think I got really lucky. ESP guitars have never really ever appealed to me as anything that I would have liked since most of their artists are metal musicians (including Willie Adler from Richmond’s own Lamb of God), but my custom ESP PC-2V is probably hands down the best guitar I’ve ever played. We were in Hollywood doing the Sticky Fingers tour with Anders Osbourne and some of the guys from Slightly Stoopid at the House of Blues when I was approached by a guy named Hal Henckel backstage at the end of the night. He was telling me how he really dug my approach to the Rolling Stones stuff we did and that Ron Wood was an artist for ESP guitars. He told me to come down to the factory in Burbank the next day so I could meet some of the reps. I thought he was full of shit, so I drank my beer and went outside to leave to go to the hotel. The next day I got a phone call from him at 9am to meet at the ESP warehouse. (Almost didn’t pick up the phone since I had gone to bed at 6am). Karl let me use a rental car and I drove up to Burbank with our trumpet player Chris Littlefield to check things out.  We pulled up to a HUGE warehouse by the airport (right next door to Ozzy Osbourne’s rehearsal space & across from the Pearl Drum factory) and walk into ESP where I was greeted by some really great people. Allen Steelgrave offered me an endorsement deal and took me on a tour of the warehouse as we talked about music, Richmond, guitars, and bullshit. I left there like a kid on Xmas day with 3 new guitars and 3 more being shipped to my apt back in VA.  Everyone on that team has been really great and those guys really DO craft a fine instrument. I play their Vintage Telecaster, my custom PC-2V, EW-O acoustic, EC-1000VB, and Vintage 4 bass. Check em out....
